Although we may be a small church, we have a big reach. We live out the command to love God and love our neighbors whether they are across the world or in our backyards. Here are a few of the ways we do this:
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Throughout the year we collect items for local individuals and families in need. This can look like gathering school supplies and backpacks for children to start school, Thanksgiving food baskets for those in need, winter clothing for those who are unhoused, or clothing and gifts for children in need in the commiunity. MOBILE MINISTRIES
Acoaxet Chapel supports the work of Mobile Ministries which provides food, clothing, and resources to those who are fighting poverty and homelessness in New Bedford and Fall River.
adult and teen challenge
We believe in the hope of the gospel to transform lives, and we have seen it first-hand through the work of Adult and Teen Challenge. Through this program, those fighting life-controlling problems find freedom and healing through Christ.
Light a Candle Foundation
La Romana, Dominican Republic
Each year a vibrant team from Acoaxet Chapel has had the privilege of serving God’s family on a week-long mission trip with Light a Candle in the Dominican Republic. Light a Candle is a Dominican non-profit that provides medical care, education, and spiritual support to the Haitian workers in the sugarcane bateyes of the Dominican Republic.
The team works with other churches to help Light A Candle achieve their mission by helping with construction of a new facility as well as traveling into the bateyes to bring supplies.
This ministry is contagious! From the first Acoaxet members traveling to the Domincan in 2006, the group grows year by year.
2024 Dominican Mission Trip to La Romana
Plans for Acoaxet Chapel to go to La Romana in February 2024 are underway. Anyone who would like to join the team in any capacity is welcome.
